Koa’s Seaside Grill: Ahi Poke

Before we moved to Maui, I didn’t even know what poke was. Now that we’ve been here for ten years, I love it.

The best place to order it at a restaurant (as I recently discovered) is at Koa’s Seaside Grill.

The Ahi Poke is one of the items offered on their special Happy Hour Menu. I would order it anytime.

As one would expect, the quality of the ahi amazing. It’s delicious and practically melts in your mouth. The poke, is exquisitely seasoned, so that the flavor of the Ahi is highlighted or, more accurately, enhanced. The combination of fresh ingredients yields a first-class Ahi Poke.

I particularly liked the sliced cucumber sprinkled with sea salt that was served on the side of the dish.

Koa’s serves a house made rice cracker which my dining companion really enjoyed. She would take a small bit of cracker and place some ahi poke and a little bit of cucumber on it. That way, she was able to experience all the flavors at once. You could tell by her smile that she really enjoyed it.
